Unless the 745 lock system has completely changed from the 245 system - which I doubt - the problem may be of a mechanical nature rather than electrical. I own both, I just haven't had cause to open up the 745...
On the 245 the "motor" operates a steel pin that may corrode. Pulling the pin out and if corroded, sand the rust down and reinstall with grease can solve a tailgate locking problem. Come to think of it, I really should open the 745 tailgate - it doesn't always unlock....
