David,
The piece you are refering to is called an air guide, it's job is to guide the air flow thru the lower opening in the bumper cover to the A/C condensor and
radiator. It will defect small stones from the ground as well. We have customers driving around for weeks without the air guide on. You shouldn't
hava any problem driving around for a couple of days.
