OK, that's good to know -- Thanks.

My mother's '89 DL (60K) does have loud valves. Valve clearance adjustment or absorbers? And how do you distinguish between these causes of valve noise? --

If the valve clearance is within specs and it is especially noisy then it might need these replaced. Usually they only fail singly and it makes for one loud distinct tapping noise.
