fuse 13 blow-out: blinkers, fuel inj relay[200/1987] posted by Jim Revkin on

my fuse 13 (16 amp) keeps blowing. i replaced the blinker relay, still no go. i see the fuse also regulates the seat warmer and the fuel injector relay. can anyone help me sort this out as to a likely culprit.

also, i noticed a ton of corrosion throughout all the fuses, any way to reduce that problem.

Thanks, please also respond to james.revkin@yale.edu

Jim,
I agree with Bill about the seat heaters as the possible culprit. Disconnect the wires under the seats and replace the fuse to see if it stops blowing. As far as the fuses are concerned, disconnect the battery, remove all the fuses and clean the terminals. Replace the fuses with the glass replacement type, they are available wat most auto part stores. The glass fuses don't seam to corrode on the ends.

Ted --

Here's an idea that works for me -- if you clean the fuse clips with the "ScotchBrite" green scrub pad, you don't need to disconnect the battery. The green scrub pad easily cleans metal (it cuts glass -- ask me how I know) and is non conductive, so no sparks and no problem. --
