I have purchased both the lexan covers and the adhesive vinyl. I much prefer the vinyl because of three reasons:

1) Dirt doesn't get stuck in between the cover and headlight.
2) Lexan covers, I think, don't look as good.
3) The vinyl is cheaper and doesn't get scratched.

You will have to spend a little extra effort putting on the clear vinyl adhesive but the results are well worth it. If you do a good job, you can hardly tell that the adhesive is even on. I made a paper pattern which I drew on the vinyl sheet and cut out left and right headlight lenses. When you install the vinyl be careful not to touch the adhesive. It will make instant impressions of your fingerprints.

With that said, if anyone is interested, I have a pair of lexan covers on sale for $20 that will fit any '94-'97 850 with 5" high lamps. Used less than a month and in very good shape.
