Do yourself, your family, anyone who rides with you, people you share the road with, your auto insurance company, your health insurance group, and all potential witnesses a BIG favor and replace your master cylinder. We're talking a relatively inexpensive fix on a very important system on your Volvo. I'm glad your friend was able to help you out with the coolant leak- he is batting .500 in my stats book!
