AAAHHHAAAAAA!~!!!!!!!!!!
I FINALLY found that "mystery" rattle in my 1985 245t. My mechanic and I had checked the heat shield area around the plugs, re-tightened the sheild bolts. Still there. By using a stethoscope, he felt that the noise was a loose bolt in the exhaust manifold. I was planing on getting used to it.
Then....lo and behold..... I was inspecting the underside yesterday, and my hand brussed up against the oxygen sensor(?) under the turbo. It was loose. Hey....what was that noise? I didn't even have the engine on. AHA! I got you, you little %$#@*&!!.....
Bundy.
