Torque Limiter Relay?? 1986 740 Turbo[740-760/1986] posted by LB on

I'm hoping someone can help me with this one.

In the central electrical fuse/relay casing that sits behind the ash tray, there is a seat belt reminder relay that 'dings' if the key is in the ignition and the seat belt is not connected or the divers door is open.

In the Haynes manual this relay is labeled as a "seat belt reminder or torque limiter (B23FT)" relay. What does it do in it's tourque limiter capacity and would I be creating problems if I removed the relay?

thanks in advance. --

Volvo offered a traction control system in Europe on 740/760 turbos in the mid-80's. This relay in that situation interrupted a couple of injectors power supply to cut engine power. It never did that on US market cars.
