BG 44K is very effective for removing carbon deposits, particularly from intake valves and fuel injectors. In the late 80s-early 90s, it was highly recommended by BMW-USA to eliminate problems due to low-detergent gasoline. The technical bulletin from BMW to its dealer suggested periodic use (something like once every 10,000 or 15,000 miles). I believe that in the late 1990s most reputable-brand gasolines have now enough detergency, and it is no longer recommended by BMW.

I have heard many people talk about how potent this stuff is, and thus give the following recommendation in order to reduce possible increased wear by its use:
Pour the can in the gas tank only with the tank full. Go through the gas (approx. 300-400 miles on most cars) and then change the oil. It seems that the stuff is potent enough to affect the quality of the engine oil after going through the cylinder walls for that long.

I hope you enjoy your sparkling-clean engine........
