aftermarket springs...[850/1995] posted by Han Chung on

What do you guys/gals think? There are lots of aftermarket springs (heavy duty, progressive, lowering, rock stiff...). How does the OEM springs compare in performace to these super dupper springs? Of course aside from some springs' purpose of lowering/looks, but efficiency and performance is what I'm interested.
Eibach, Intrax, Neuspeed, ...????

thanks

Han

Hi Han,
I have tried three different brands of lowering springs and they all have different characteristics. First of all, no matter how much they claim to lower the car, all of them lower the car averaging about 1"-1.5" in the front and about 1" in the rear. The first set was IPD, they are only slightly stiffer than my stock non-sport springs. The second set was INTRAX, they claimed 1.75" drop, but it was more like 1.25". They are STIFF! The third set and my current set is PI from Germany. They are in the middle of the IPD and INTRAX. They provide enough stiffness but not as rock hard as the INTRAX. So when you decide on springs, the ride height should all be quite similiar, it is the stiffness that you should consider. Good luck.
