Has anyone found a source for aftermarket WIRING HARNESSES to replace the biodegradeable ones in my Volvos? I really don't want to pay the dealer prices.

I've never found aftermarket ones... If you can use a soldering iron, you can rebuild yours. It's a matter of removing the harness, clipping a wire at the connector end, soldering on a length of new wire, pulling it thru the harness using the old wire and then resoldering both old end connectors back on and adding heat shrink over the solder joints. You can do an engine harness in a couple of hours once its removed. If you are going to replace the harness yourself, it's worth the effort!

I ditto Fletch's advice. In addition, check out the web page for Painless Wiring. They are one of the biggest aftermarket sources for wiring harnesses. While they do not offer the Volvo harness as part of their product line, they do have wire in 10 and 14 gauge thicknesses that has a special high temperature plastic insulation that offers much better heat resistance than your average pep boy or JC Whitney offerings.
