The anti-sway bars will help dramatically reduce body roll during lateral manuevers. They will also make the ride more harsh over bad roads, because the independent movement of the L-R suspension is diminished somewhat by swaybars. Based on my experience with the IPD sway bars on my 740T wagon, I highly recommend them.
I think that stiffer springs would be a sure way to great cornering and zero comfort.

I installed the iPd swybars and lowering springs on my '89 740 wagon and was really impressed with the cars ability to corner and perform other hazardous freeway manuvers. I didn't like the damping rate of the shocks, older stock Volvo type, versus the new increased spring rate. The car would hit a bump and the nose would shoot up.
I learnt my lesson. I installed the Bilsteins, also from iPd, and was very happy with the way the car settled down. Sometimes over small sharp bumps the shock will go through the car, but for the most part I'm very happy with the set up. Oh, and I also installed 16" aftermarket wheels with a 205 tire and this adds to the overall feel.
