Ambient Temp gauge install[850/1995] posted by Shatz on

Well, I'm not sure where this question falls in the new categories, but I would like to know whether anyone has any experience in installing the ambient temp gauge. It was not standard on the 92 960, and I've always thought it could be a useful addition, especially in the Baltimore climate where roads are often iffy.
On a scale of 1-5, how hard is it to install yourself? Looking at the insturment panel, I'm not sure I can even figure out how to remove the dash, unlike the 240 erector set assembly. Guess it's time for the manuals...

What ambient temperature do you want to monitor? Outside air temp? If so truchk stops and Brookstone have one a little bigger than a pack of gum that I have installed. It shows inside air temp and some outside air, my sensor is on some plastic behind the bumper. I found a rubber feedthru on the firewall that I could get the sensor thru. The display is held on by sticky back velcro.

Sorry, yes the Volvo ambient temp guage measures "road" temperature and warns you of temps below 34 degrees. It's built into the dash.
