83 244 B23f Flame Trap where?[850/1995] posted by Barry on

I have seen numerous postings for checking flame trap for crud. Where is this exactly on my 83 244 B23F automatic? Any responses are appreciated.

If you have a/c, this is gonna suck... It's under the intake manifold. Sorta right behind the distributor and air bypass valve. Look (feel) for the plastic bit with rubber hoses coming out of the top and a single (larger) rubber hose out the bottom. The plastic bit splits in two, revealing the flame trap.

On my '83, it's a fairly (relative) simple operation because I have no a/c and the steering pump is down low, where the compressor would be. In a car equipped with a/c you sort of need to be a contortionist...
