Anyone ever seen a 284? I have!![850/1995] posted by Owen Woodland on
Sunday, 29 March 1998, at 4:44 a.m.

Saw an orange beast of a volvo down on the main street today. It was parked, so I didn't get to see it in operation.

It's a (official (looking?) Volvo badges) "284 SC", 4.4 litre.
It was a 1976/77 240 body, 240 tail lights, 240 head lights, 240 grille.
The grille was color coded (conicidence from respray?)
The side badges had the "284 SC/4.4" on them
I presume it was a V-8, probably a leyland.
It also had the super duper GT dash, GL (with the crown) steering wheel.
It was automatic.
It had an LPG conversion (usually indicative, in Australia at least of a thirsty - read v8 - car)
It had breather vent sort of things in the bonnet.

Oooh baby, if that's a real v8 in that baby, it must go like the CLAPPERS. Looked official, too. Anyone know the story? I think I remember seeing one other one in Australia, but a 282 (whoo baby a coupe v8 volvo!!), but I had convinced myself that I was wrong (until now!)

Excitement plus. I really don't get out enough ha ha.

Owen in Australia (wish I could find the owner and make him an offer!)
