stalling 240[850/1995] posted by Steven on

I have an 82 240. Beauty, she is. Only 130k on her.
But she likes to stall.
In the past year, she's done it 4 times, 3 of those times in the past 3 months.
Here's the situation.
I've driving along, everything going great. All of a sudden, I lose power, for about 10 seconds. Then it dies.
I wait 20 minues, it runs strong again.
No hard start, no nothing.
I replaced the fuel filter. Still stalls.
I'm pretty sure it's a fuel thing.
Any ideas? Anybody?

Intermittent nature makes it sound like an electrical gremlin to me. I'm not
as familiar with the 240 as the 740/940 but TONS has been written on this
topic on the Brickboard. Search the archives for "stall". Also check out
Swedishbricks.com's FAQ section for electrical.

Fuel pump relay probs come to mind first. Also, seems like the 240 has a
fuel system fuse under the hood which is prone to corrosion. Successful
fixes have involved replacing the Volvo fuse connector with a GM watertight
connector.

Others know much more than me, and have written on this topic. good luck.
