Great Site. I own a 90 740 thats been flawless.(After Volvo replaced the
computer to fix the cold start problems.) Going to see an '81 242 this Sunday
from a friend of a friend. Alledgedly 108K on car, in a 4 Volvo family.
Anything special to check beyond basics(steering rack,blower
motor,bushings..?) Am I out of the woods with the Chrysler ignition woes
with an '81? Asking price is 1500.

I have a 1982 244DL and a 245GLT ..the 244DL has the Chrylser ignition
and I bought the car from a salvage yard with 123k on it and now has
189k and I have not had any trouble with the ignition.B21f engine with
LH jetronic fuel injection.If the car has white distributor cap it has
the infamous Chysler ignition ..Any way its been a good and dependable
car for me to this point..Good Luck....
