Wiring harness on 740[850/1995] posted by Rob on

Just curious. When referring to Wiring harness, does it include entire
wiring system, or just the set of wires going from Ignition module
to the distributor.
There is fair amount of feedback on this topic. However, I'm not
clear on it. Thanks for any responses.

If you are refering to the problem of wiring harness rot that afects the 80-87 models, it usually affects the harness on the engine. On then LH cars, this usually includes a fuel injection harness and a separate ignition system harness. However, I have seen some deterioration of other underhood harnesses including the wiring that goes to various lights (turn signals, corner markers, headlights, etc.).
If you have a problem with yours, please send letter outlinging your concerns about safety, possible fire, reliability, etc, on a car that was advertised as safe, reliable, and with an average lifetime of 11 to 15 years or more!
Send a letter to Volvo Customer Relations in Rockleigh, NJ, and make a complaint to NHTSA (visit their web site).

Send a copy to Sweden, too. Or Email them. This problem seems to be US cars more than Euro cars. I wonder why? BTW. Steve Seekins is showing some "cojones" by taking this matter to Volvo. Good! Maybe they will listen to and help with cost to repair.

Punch: www.volvo.com and then "contact". Go down to the big window and write in English and "Send". Don't worry about Swedish question windows.

If you go to "Headquarters" you'll find "Customer relations" address. (I went to "Sweden" and that's in Swedish. Either one will do, or send to all 8 countries!) Good Luck!
