'90 740T brake noises[740-760/90] posted by Steve on

Occasionally while braking my '90 740T wagon (Girling calipers, ABS), I will hear and feel a grinding/crunching sound from the front of the car, the brake pedal will vibrate, then sink a bit further toward the floor. Sometimes I will hear what seems to be a "sproinging" noise, like a spring being twanged.

I checked out both front calipers, and all seems to be in order. Might I have a master cylinder problem?

thanks for the help!

Steve,

What you are describing is normal ABS functions. I would still recommend that you have a pro check it out. If you pulled into my shop and asked me to drive your car and test the brakes I would probably do it no charge. If the car were in for a 5000 mile service, that would be included. Don't take chances w/ brakes !
