Re: Brake failure light comes on?[740-760/90] posted by Peter Dufault on

Does the pedal slowly sink to the floor when stopped? That is the classic symptom of a worn out master cylinder.

On my '80 245, the light would go on occasionally then go away after tapping the brake. After a while, it would sink down a little, and then a bit more. Eventually it feels like there is air in the system.

In the couple weeks between when I made an appointment at my cousin's shop and when I got there, the brake was running only one side of the triangle and going half way down before kicking in. It feels great now, however now I need to do the rotors and pads.

The proportining valve was not replaced and the system is balanced.
