Mike ---

There's no question that the data is/was misleading. The observation of dry plugs was probably the single reason we kept hammering at the fuel delivery system.

When we pulled the rack and observed a beautiful spray pattern, the response was, "How can this be?" Or words to that effect. (And pulling the rack can be a job -- hence we didn't do it until we had run out of ideas.)

I forgot to mention that we tried a little ether, and the engine sputtered. Further conclusion: It's not getting fuel! (Wrong -- ether is much more volatile than gas, so ignited with the low compression. But we didn't try it enough to get the engine running.)

We even wondered if someone had filled the tank with diesel fuel, so we performed a sniff test -- calibrated, of course.

I'm glad Brickboard readers enjoyed the exercise, and hope someone posts a similar technical challenge.
