A great book for theory and maintenance for the D-jet (as well as the K-Jet and the LH jet systems) is the Robert Bently Bosch Fuel Injection book - you can get it at discount through VCOA (Check the book discount secton of Rolling for order information). Otherwise, the factory manual is the best.

The Manifold Pressure Sensor is a variable inductor - only way to test or control (electrically) is to use an inductive bridge. However, only mode of failure that I have ever seen is a diaphragm failure that is easy to spot with a small vacuum pump and gage - if it won't hold a vacuum, the diaphragm is cracked. --
