As Jim stated, the crankcase vent is a possible culprit.
I had a whitish/blue smoke at idle recently (87 760t)and I cleaned out
the crank vent and found that the vacuum pull off "T" on the white plastic
piece where the line comes from the oil trap to the airbox output hose was completely stopped up. Once this was clean my smoke at idle problem
disappeared.
