Sorry, I was racin'. DON'T TRUST GAUGE[240-260/91] posted by George Swift on

Stan, don't trust the gauge or the sending unit. It's time to trust a Snsp-ON gauge.

Regarding the recent head work, the only connections I would consider is the oil path to the head. The oil hole in the block deadends into the head to the outside of the 2nd head bolt on the exhaust side. The oil then flows up through the head bolt hole to a hole just before the top. Then it goes on to lube the 5 cam brg. Journals. Are they on right? The #'s go on the intake side. Was anything done around the cam journals? Is there good oiling to the head? No need to remove the V/C, just take the oil cap off and look inside.

Do you have a Volvo oil filter? You better! The oil pressure relief valve could be stuck in a position that allows for higher oil pressure as the oil is more viscous, and as the oil heats up, pressure drops. I doubt that though. It's possible the oil pump discharge tube o rings (2) are going south. You better not have a cheap oil filter! Do the oil pressure test and report. I bet it's the gauge, sender, or wiring. USE A VOLVO OR MANN FILTER !!! 15 W 40 oil for summer. --
