The AW70 series is based on the BW55. The O.D. is in front of the front clutch, and is in no way related to the Laycock (now Gearvendors) O.D..

The BW55 cannot be converted to an AW70 series, although the cases look identical. The AW70 series transmission w/lock-up converter can be identified a few different ways. The torque converter is a larger diameter, and ''flatter''. The suffix on the designation plate will indicate L/C with an L. The bell housing has one ''Vent'' screen on the bottom as opposed to two. The input shaft on the L/C version is hollow, and not on versions W/O locking converter. Etc....... --
