I just bought a 86 240DL. I really like the car. It runs good with the exceptin of it idleing rough while stopped at traffic lights, etc. There's black smoke coming out the exhaust and there is a strange smell of rotten eggs.

Also it has a hard time turning over in the morning after it has been sitting all night. Can any one help?

Those are symptoms of a defective air mass meter, high fuel pressure, or shorted 02 sensor. The air fuel ratio needs to be set. The A/F ratio is set with an infrared gas analyser. Checking the exhaust gasses upstream of the catalytic converter with the 02 sensor disconnected is the only proper way. If the air mass meter will not adjust within the parameters, it may need replacement. As always, check the airbox thermostat. --
