Re: Need hi-perf pre-pump for 1985 245 turbo[240-260/1982] posted by abe crombie on

There are two pre-pumps that fit a whole range of volvo rear drives through 94.
The short one was originally used for all models through 85 (maybe 86) and then they begin to use a longer high volume on turbo and the shorter one on all others. The longer one is usable if you cut some of the metal tube onto which the in-tank pump hangs. Don't use an accordion hose when you replace it, use a piece of normal rubber fuel hose. If your car has the original pump (many were upgraded in summer 85 when the fuel had high vapor pressure and tons of cars of all makes were suffering from vapor lock and the volvo fix was to upgrade to high volume pump) it will be about 2 1/4 inches long. The high volume version is about 3 1/4" long.
