IPD S70/V70 IPD Full Nose Mask[ALL/1988] posted by pat on

I just got my full nose mask from IPD and I'm having problems with the bottom bumper part. Am I really suppose to pry apart the wheelwell liner from the body for those tabs on the bra? I can't even get one tab to go in. I feel like I'm going to rip/break the wheelwell liner. Does anybody else have one and if so are you satisfied with it?
thanks
pat

I don't want to be too nosey here, but this might save you a little anguish later. If you leave the cap, or "bra" as they used to be called, on all of the time water will of course get between it and your paint, either through rain or condensation. When the cover is exposed to sunlight, even low angle light in the winter, the moisture will be heated and contained between the two surfaces. It will only take a few hours for the heat and moisture to ruin the paint. Usually the top coat will be crazed and show checking and cracking, but in a few instances that I have seen the paint actually bubbled and lifted away from the sheet metal primer. If you do decide to use the cover, I would suggest that you take it off every few hours, never use it in wet weather, and make sure that the factory warranty will cover paint deterioration/damage caused by the use of such an item. This is no joke! I have seen HUNDREDS of such paint failures.

Thanks for the recommendation (I've been told this before) but I feel like I almost have no choice. The car has only 1700 miles on and there are already two serious paint nicks in the hood around the volvo grill area. I don't tailgate and can't even think of where these came from. I'm starting to feel that the volvo paint quality is very poor. Naturally I compare everything to my other car (89 maxima, best car I've ever owned) and with the maxima I had a nose bra from day one and did leave it on for longs periods of time (even through wet and in Florida) and my paint finish is still great. In fact, the bumper and front of hood are in better shape than the rest of the car after 170,000 miles.
I tried giving the volvo bra another shot and finally got two of the flaps to kind of go in but the third bottom one is just hanging there. I see no place to put it. Does anybody know/have one of these? Has anybody had front bumper, hood paint failure?
