In the early 80s the 240 DL had 2 different speedometers. One that read out to 85mph and the other that read out to 120mph. Are the 2 speedometers completely interchangeable and can each be used no matter which transmission it is hooked up to or is their use dictated by the type of transmission in the car?

If the number below the odometer numeral opening is the same, then they are interchangeable. This is a factor that assures correct speedo and odo function.
