Oil drain plug - Torque spec?[ALL/1988] posted by Bill on
Friday, 30 January 1998, at 12:03 a.m.

I know I'm probably being picky (and yes, I am a perfectionist), but does anyone have the torque specification for a B230FT oil drain plug? (If there is one)

Thanks,
Bill

The oil pan drain plug requires precisely 1 G torque (one metric grunt approx equal to one milli-heave U.S.) for a new one, 1-2 G's when re-installing a used one. If oil still pours out, tighten it. If threads strip out, back it off a little. Unless you're using an air ratchet, don't worry about it.

[if you really must know it's 18-23 Nm torque according to Mr. Haynes]

Don't know about the Volvo, but spec for a Honda is 33 ft-lbs. -Glenn.
