transmission swap[ALL/1988] posted by chris compton on

I CURRENTLY HAVE A 81 245 GLT B21F 175K with a 3 speed Automatic transmission AW?? model with (No OD).
The current unit works, however it may not continue to do so. I would like to consider a swap that will do all or some of the following, Not in order of importance; driveability, performance, gas milage, durability.

I would consider making modest modifications however I will want to go to the local scrap yard and get most or all of the parts including the recommended transmission .. PS I want to keep the automatic..
Thanks
Chris

Chris-easiest swap is from your AW-55 to an AW-70 4-speed OD unit. Still an auto slushbox, no offense meant I drive one too, and pretty damn bulletproof. AW-55 weren't no slouch either-

Why ya into swapping? BW-55 giving ya trouble?
