another chip question...[ALL/1988] posted by Han Chung on

perhaps this was already discussed in the board, but I would like to ask anyone out there who has upgraded their chip on the 850 turbos if there are other options other than the Motronic IPD's. I think I know how IPD's upgrade works and it's effects. I just visited the BSR page and they seems to be doing simmilar stuff. Does anyone know how they compare?

thanks a mil...

han.

Hi,
As far as I know, BSR is the only that have torque reduction on the
lower gears. This is done in order to prevent your car from expensive
repairs !

I've had my IPD ecu for about a year, and still rave about it. I would *strongly* suggest you deal with somebody who is easy to reach, and stands firmly (and quickly) behind their product. For instance, if you have a dealer problem with your 'chip' IPD will help you out (although it never happens). On an item as important as your computer, you really shouldnt let a few bucks stand in the way of your getting the best product, and best support available. Dont forget, the IPD product has been well tested, and evaluated by some of the major trade rags, like European Car, who heaps praise on it. I've heard mixed things about BSR. IN this area, let the buyer beware.

han,

I would think that it you change your tranny crankcase fluid with every synthetic oil change, you shouldn't concern yourself with over-torque naysayers and the TME chip!
