Wet carpet in 765T[ALL/1988] posted by Nick C. on

I have a 760Turbo wagon that is somehow getting water in the front passenger side whenever rains. This morning the carpet was so wet I actually used a cup to remove the water. I checked the sunroof drain holes and it's seems fine. Can anyone offer any advice?

Hi Nick,
As far as I can see there are two possibilites:
- You can have a leakage in your front window. Check by using
compressed air and let one person slide the air nozzle all the way around
from the outside while you stay in the car and listen and feels for lekage.
- Down under the dash behind the vertical outer plactic cover is a hatch
with a lid. The lid can be misalinged or the sealing can be broken. Remove
the plastic cover. Get a garden hose and let plenty of water stream down
your front window. Get inside the car with your head down under the
dash and check !

Nick,

Try checking the air box area for the heating and AC. The grilled area before the window. There are large drain tubes in the two fender corners that usally get clogged with leaves. If the water builds up, it can gain access to the AC unit which is positioned behind the glove box.

Good luck...

See Jim Creighton's post and responses for Jan 28th. It covers most of the possibilities.
