93 850 instrument lights \ horn inoperative[ALL/1988] posted by Paul Wallace on

I noticed tonight that a portion of my instrument panel in dark , the left hand side of the speedometer and all of the water temp. guage to the left of the speedometer. I assume I have a bulb out, could someone share with me how to gain access to these bulbs and the what the part-number of the bulb might be?

Also my horn quit. IDP has backordered my maintenance manual till mid-March
so I don't have any information to troubleshoot the system by. I would appreciate any information that could be shared to get the horn going. It is almost a " No Go" item (Aircraft Technician Term) with my wife. I here no relays clicking and I have no voltage to my horns.

Thanking you in advance,
Paul Wallace

I had the same problem. Replacing the instrument bulbs requires removing the entire dash (about $200 in labor for a 50 cent bulb). Talk-about anti-engineering -- you would think that the instrument panel was designed by British Jaguar engineers. I didn't replace them until a warranty repair occured that required dash removal (air conditioning leak -- I think it was the evaporator). You might also want to replace the trip computer bulbs as well. I have had to replace them twice.
