Heater Core[ALL/1988] posted by John Acampora on

Before I start taking out the glove box to check the heater doors of my 87 765T with no heat (A/C works fine); can anyone tell me about the normal temperature of hoses coming out of the heater core. The bottom hose with coolant going into the core is hot, as hot and top radiator hose. The top hose with coolant coming out of the core is slightly warm. Is this difference normal for a car that has the heater on, or is it a sign that the heater core is plugged up?
TIA

Normally the inlet hose is hot and the return will be real warm. I would take off the hose from the heater valve and inspect the heater valve. They have been known to come apart and the hole to get blocked. Heater cores can block, so a back flow test may be a good idea. The inlet from engine is to the heater valve.
