reversing/brake lights[ALL/1988] posted by Kevin Sevarino on

Thanks to Abe Crombie for reminding me that the Third Brake Light also can trigger the bulb failure light. I forgot! That was the problem, thakns so much. I also found the whole trim panel around the third light (wagon) was loose and fixed it. For the reversing light, this is a manual tranny car. I moved the air filter box and found the switch on top of the tranny housing, as Abe said. Seems the tranny lever that pushes up the reversing light switch piston had a depression worn in it, so the switch was no longer being pushed in enough. Doesn't say mush for the qualtiy of metal inside that tranny. I ground down the shoulder of the switch a bit, so it sits deeper in the tranny until my VOM indicated engaing reverse would close the circuit. Thanks again, not I'm gonna work on this increadible squeek that's developed in the right rear passenger area. By the way, has anyone used the Haynes 850 manual from the UK that ipd sells. Do you feel it is useful to the tune of $40 for US vehicles. Kevin
