Power windows[200/1982] posted by Gary Becker on

None of the power windows in my car work (1982 240 wagon). I cleaned and sanded all of the fuses. They're fine. I pulled out the main control switch by the drivers side door and cleaned all the contacts. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

It may be time to determine if and where power is getting to.
A 12 volt tester (either visual or buzzer) is necessary.

(each step assumes that the prior step was a positive reply)
1. Determine if power is delivered to the main switch panel.
2.) is there power leaving each switch?
3.) is power received at each window motor?

Sometimes the wires that go from the chassis to the door panels crack.

I had an 80 264 that had a similar situation.
I had to dis-assemble each switch and using emry cloth or a scotch brite pad, clean the contact surface on each switch. Worked perfect after that.
