Thanks again everyone for the advice.

As suggested, I contacted Volvo VIP Department again (1-800-325-8783) and pressed them on the issue of the 18mo/18K cutoff date. They were very pleasant in saying that a "cutoff date" DOES NOT exist and that I was misinformed.

In fact, anyone can purchase the VIP extended warranty plan (the only plan directly through Volvo) provided your Volvo satisfies BOTH of these conditions: 1 month AND 1000 miles left on the original factory warranty. If you have any questions or problems, please call Volvo and speak with Michelle at 1-800-325-8783 x243. She was a BIG help. She will even suggest dealerships in your area where you can purchase this plan.
