The only major oil leak remaining after the dye test was at the O ring behind the oil filter and its 'stand'. I tried to get a 22mm socket on that nut for far too long with no luck.
A mechanic wants to charge me $200 for this privilege.
Not a chance when the fix is only $3.00 worth of ring and washers.
The nut is a normal hex, but the casing around it tapers closely to the nut. Just can't seem to get a bit on it. Leverage space is also next to zip.
Is there a special tapered 22mm socket for this puppy?
Or is there an alternative?

Try grinding a little off the end of the socket. Around the circumference, as high as necessary to clear the recess. That 'stand' is probably the oil cooler adapter, and yes, there is an o-ring behind it.

It is a royal pain to get in there - I have found that it is a lot easier if I remove the turbo oil return line first. IT gives a little more space to get in with a wrench. I don't know if yours is the same as my 90, but mine has an extension to the rear so that the filter is easier to reach - further aft and parallel to the block. There are 2 O-rings, one at the filter mount piece and another where the adapter mounts to the block. The new O-rings are of slightly different design than the old ones and are supposed to work better. $200 is too much for the job! It take maybe 1.5 hours if you have never done it before. --
