Where to find 850 winter tires - Toronto?[ALL/1998] posted by Mickey Kerr on

Looking for a set of winter tires (and steel rims too I guess) for an '95 850 Turbo wagon. The car has the OEM performance tires on it (can't remember the exact brand details). Anyone know of a good source in the Toronto area? The local Volvo dealers seem to want a fortune for a set. I was hoping someone might know of a set that might be available somewhere else (used?).

Actually the price offered by the delers is not all that bad.
If you choose to buy tires and rims their is a place in Concord that has great prices on all kinds of tires for all cars.I think its called Active tire or Concord tire.
The only caution I can suggest is to make sure that you have the correct offset.As this will alter/maintain proper alignament specs.Without the proper offset you can destroy a good set of snows in no time.Michelin have a new tire out.Now that i think of it it was saturdays paper.The star not the sun.
The offset is 43mm.Most road wheels have very little to none.
Its also a wise choice to go with the snows as new Mags for an 850T is no laughing matter.

as Sven informed you your best bet is to purchase the steel wheel and tires together from your Volvo dealer in T.O. Close to this time the Volvo dealers should offer a 4 winter tires mounted on the Gislaved Nord Frost tires for a good price. If you live in the U.S. Tire Rack does sell the steel wheels with the tires. If you are intrested below here is a toll free number that is offering at least 25% off on the snow tire package but, there is one catch you have to go to London, Ont. to pick them up! Wow, what a great source this Brick Board is turning out to be. Folks here are very helpful. Will check the London dealership since my in-laws live there, and we drive there quite often. Just have to say that we picked up our car Tuesday night(a Ferrari red '95 850 turbo wagon) and the thing is a real beauty. Incredible "fit and finish" and a narly engine that is very responsive. Seems like it is going to be a lot of fun to drive. Compared to the Camry wagon, you have an almost overwhelming feeling of comfort and security while driving.

since you reside in the T.O. area suggest you try to get your Volvo service
at Swedish Motors.

These guys do just as good as your local volvo dealers does and they are reccommended. They use Genuine volvo parts , so you still get the 1yr. warrenty from volvo if anything goes wrong with the parts within that period.
