What is needed to renew the ride on a 1984 240 with 150,000 miles?

I had a nice 1984 240DL with 125K miles when a 16 year old plowed into it from the rear. Insurance company totaled it, based on the book value. About 6 months before, I had replaced the suspension bushings in the rear (probably should have done the front too) and the shock absorbers. Really made a difference in the ride. The original parts deteriorate so slowly, you don't notice the degraded ride until you replace the bushings and shocks.

Needed a press for a couple of bushings (took the parts to my place of work) but several were able to be done in a big vise. I use my set of impact sockets as press arbors, for jobs like this and several other projects. Also, if you have access to a welder (or a friend that can weld) it's easy and cheap to make a small press jig that works with a $10 hydraulic bottle jack.

Good luck with your project.
