'75 242 dl acceleration / stutter prob[ALL/1998] posted by Bret Bradford on

I recently purchased a 75 242 dl w/ a B20. the acceleration problem seems like it's ignition related. I adjusted the valve lash hoping that would help..no such luck. It has the electronic fuel injection. once you get to a certain speed it smoothes out. I was looking at the chilton manual and it showed a ground off of the electronic module(EM). is this an external ground with an actual ground wire attatched to the case of the EM, or is it grounded through the plug? The EM was'nt secured to the fender when I started troubleshooting, I secured it and it seemed to run a little smoother. but, if it is supposed to be externally grounded, why are the mounting tabs coated with rubber? Am I way off track here or what? I don't want to start replacing EM's or impulse senders unless I know for sure what the problem is. Parts are hard to come by here in Juneau and they're not cheap. I'm open to any suggestions anyone might have.

I can't tell much about the 240 since I just got my first one.

However, regarding parts: you can find a huge listing on this site for
remanufactured and risky used stuff. I save a hell of a lot of money with these
resources. Also, call IPD: 1800-444-6473 (or visit their site).

Example of IPD savings: bought the rubber boot and hanging bearing for the midsection of my 240 drive shaft.
Dealer:
boot $33 (retaining spring not included)
retaining spring $4
bearing $38

IPD:
boot w/ spring $13
bearing $22

Good Luck,
-jarrod
