El. window relay problem[ALL/1998] posted by Chris Wiseman on

Help! it is starting to get cold, and all of my electric windows are half way opened. I am pretty sure that I have traced the problem to a faulty window relay, but I am not able to track down the relay in my 82 244Ti. In the Haynes manual, it says that the relay is located to the left of the two central lock relays, but it is nowhere to be found. Is there an alternative location for this relay to be? Any help would greatly be appriciated!
Thanks!

Chris, According to both the Volvo Problem Solver and the Group 30 Volvo manual the window relays are behind the dash area under the radio/and key shelf-dea's center-the one next to the glovebox is the OD relay it's the one to the left of it. There are 4 in a row left to right Central lock open.central lock closed, power windows, and OD.

Check the wiring at the hinges in the doors for cracks, shorts and the switches for clean contacts. Also check the ground points at the top of the central console frame. Two - one on each side.
If you need a copy of the Volvo manual pages let me know and give me a fax number and I'll fax 'em to ya!
Hope this helps.
Stoney
