hard steering '70 1800[ALL/1998] posted by justin on

The other day I changed the rubber steering coupling disc in the steering column of my 1970 1800E. Once it was all finished, I took it for a drive and noticed the steeering was very hard, much more so than before. When I would release the wheel after a turn, the car would keep turning. In replacing the disc I manually turned the front wheels back and forth a few times to allign things. But my question is: Did this turning of the wheels damage the balljoints or something? If not, why does it drive so poorly now? And lastly, why could I just have left things alone?
