84 240 wagon MPG[ALL/1998] posted by Jeff Zirzow on

I currently have an 1984 240DL sedan (4 door, steel wheels, B23 engine, automatic transmission) We currently get 28-30 mpg in the summer with mostly highway driving. We are using synthetic oil that has improved MPG by at least 2.

Here’s my question:
We are buying a 1984 wagon (automatic transmission, alloy wheels, 4 cylinder engine, roof rack). I haven’t got to check the exact engine model yet.

Wed like to get an idea of what kind of fuel economy we might expect. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

on the highway and around town (mostly highway).

John

P.S I have the B23F Engine.
