850 Accident Repair Questions[ALL/1998] posted by Jeff Meier on

I would like to know if this experience is normal and I have some questions too.
My wife was involved in an accident in our 850 T-5. She was not hurt, but the car was damaged from the bumper through to the radiator. That was in mid June. Since then the dealer has been working on fixing the car. Every time they say they are done something is still wrong. Here is the list of what was wrong after they thought it was done...
1st time: Turbo did not boost on test drive, oil in coolant (rejected car at dealer), scratches in roof, and hood not aligned with body
2nd time: Trip computer broken, oil in coolant, scratches in roof, lug nut fell off while driving, fuel mileage fell from average of 21mpg to 17 mpg, head lights out of alignment, plastic piece missing from air dam, scratched alloy wheel, hood not aligned with body, and scratched trim from hood alignment
3rd time: Dent in hood, windshield molding fell off, fuel mileage 17mpg, scratched trim from hood
My satisfaction level is pretty low right now with this dealer's service/body shop.
Is this normal after about $4000 worth of damage?
A computer check was run on the engine and they found nothing to cause the mileage change. I am concerned something is wrong with the engine no repairs were made to it from the accident. Does anyone have a suggestion on what should be tried next?

Let's face it: Your dealer sucks. Call and write to VCNA....it works. Go to another dealer.....keep records of everything and don't give up. This is crappy dealer work....not the pure fault of the car design....(Sorry Mr. Singh) But, I do wonder why so many auto manufacturers have loose standards for dealer cerification. (Other than the obviou$ $hort term an$wer.)
