'83 244 No Start/No fuel[ALL/1998] posted by Evan Reisner on

Due to stupidity, I sent 12V coursing thru the chassis when fixing the hibeam relay on a 'new' '83 240.
Now I have a no start, which appears to be a no fuel. I can't hear the fuel pump relay click.
I found the 2 relays, "system" and "fuel pump". One (I think it's fuel, but how do I know? Should "system" relay go hot w/ign?) does not fire w/ign switch on. I believe the fuel relay should trigger for a few sec. on start up. So I find the trigger wire. Green/blue trace. Goes *straight* to the ECU. Ugh. But what I need to know is, does this mean the ECU (computer) is bad, or is it receiving bad input, so that it doesn't provide the right output? And where do I find a replacement ECU? and what will I pay?Did I fry my computer? Hope not.
BTW, does any of the above make sense? Any other thoughts? Assuming it IS the computer, can I trust a used unit? Are there 'rebuilt' computers? Any advice will be deeply appreciated.
Thanks,
Evan
