480ES tickover problem[ALL/1998] posted by stuart on

Hi I have a problem with the tickover on my 1990 Volvo 480ES ( non-turbo catalyser model )
engine type B18EP fitted with Bendix engine management system:

The engine revs vary between 300 & 1200 at idle. This can be cured temporeraly by unplugging the engine management
then re-fitting the ECU plug, but this cure only lasts for a couple of days.
I am sure it is not a wiring fault with this plug but is something to do
with resetting the engine management by unplugging & re-fitting this plug.
HELP ! as it is driving me nuts.....all suggestions gratefully recieved.
Thanks !
