B16 and B18 interchanges?[ALL/1998] posted by John Allen on

I have a 1961 PV544 with a B16 and I'm wondering if a B18 fuel pump will
work on it. Also, does anyone know of a source which lines out what parts
are interchangeable between these engines and also between 544's and 122's?

The B18 pump will work only if you use the pump arm from the B16 pump. The B18 arm won't contact the cam enough to work. Please feel free to e-mail me for complete details on the conversion. What particular parts do you want to interchange between B16 and B18, as there are very few that are similar to both. For the 544 and 122 parts, please specify what, as some will interchange.

Mr. Heyburn is absolutely right. Volvo bragged a lot
about how little the new B18 had in common with
itīs predecessor back in ī62 when it was launched.
