Winter Storage: To drive, or not to drive?[ALL/1998] posted by Eric Dela Cruz on

Hi everyone,

I'm planning on storing my 1990 780 Turbo for the winter, and I'm looking for
opinions and/or advice on whether it's better to drive or start the car
periodically during the winter months, or just remove the battery and let the
car sit until spring (with a full tank of gas). I've heard arguments for both
options.

Any thoughts?

Regards,

Eric

I used to store my 90 745T w/ the oem aerokit because of the winter damage potential here in Buffalo. Problems you may wish to avoid: put all four corners up on stands to avoid the dreaded flat spot on tires. You will invariably have front rotor/caliper problems my experience has shown. Moisture in the brake fluid apparently rusts inside of bores and they hang up and then overheat rotors and warp the. I'm not the only one who I know who has had this problem w/ a stored Volvo....
